The new season finally got underway today with our game against Gossop NE. After a nervy start, New Mills got into their stride wih the opening goal after 5 minutes. Now starting to feel more comfortable on the ball, goals steadily followed to make it 6-0 at half time, including a good strike from the edge of the area, inside the near post, from Levi Stanger. The second half was dominated by New Mills, resulting in 5 more goals, the best being Marie Thompsons angled strike, over the keeper into the far top corner. Everyone should be very proud of the girls today, fantastic game from everyone. Well done to Lauren Garlick, first game in a new position, and adapted superbly. Player of the match to Hannah, 6 goals on the first day, superb finishing. Some early glimpses of the the type of football today of what made these girls treble winners last year, long may it continue. Well done girls, onward and upward.......
